4/11/2023 0 Comments Vltor m1a stock crackI have never tried them at longer ranges. I have GI fiberglass on two rifles and they are very accurate at 100 yards, but the stocks are modified. One could do in the short term with significant modifications, but ultimately you will want to buy a good stock for LR shooting. The GI fiberglass stocks are pretty marginal for long range shooting like you are wanting to do. With these, like the mil-surp, you can just add the cheekpiece yourself. If I recall correctly they were more expensive than the one I settled on, even with the Kevlar and custom paint, but I believe the SA stocks are new manufacture and not mil-surp. This was a while back when I settled on the one from Karsten. But, they are probably out of your price range.but they are great gun pr0n to drool over.Īlso, while they are not listed for sale in Springfield Armory's web store, I have called and gotten stand alone prices for their Mossy Oak and black composite stocks. God why can't I be a millionaire! I would love to have one of these. If you really want to get into competition shooting and your wallet can take the hit, these are the best M1A/M14 accuracy/long range shooting stocks you can buy. Karsten, the first link listed, in fact buys his stocks from Fred, unless he got a new supplier, and my order was delayed a few days because he was awaiting a shipment form Fred's to start work on a new batch of stocks. ![]() Adding the cheekpiece yourself should not be a problem if you can make a jig or template for the drill holes on a mil-surp stock. Look around and you'll find something from a Vietnam (or before) beater to a cherry, unissued stock and with or without buttplate hardware. Karsten will also add the adjustable cheek piece as another service but, since I do not use mine for competition, I simply opted for a padded cheek riser when using a scope.įred's sells only mil-surp stocks, you should be able to find something there. ![]() All told, I think it was around $150.but this was also years ago. I bought the stock (mil-surp) from him and he Flecktarned it for me and added some layers of Kevlar.
